Lesson 1 of 6

Why off-site presence matters now

6 min read

Discovery left the search box

People now discover businesses on TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, LinkedIn, and in AI answers — not just Google. Your off-site presence (where you show up across the web) shapes whether they ever reach your site at all.

Off-site signals feed AI and SEO

  • AI engines synthesize answers from across the web — forums, social, reviews, articles. The more your brand appears in credible places, the more likely you're cited.
  • Mentions and links from real sites build the prominence/authority that lifts your search rankings.
  • Communities (Reddit, niche forums, Discord) are where buying decisions actually happen.

The strategy

You don't need to be everywhere. Pick the few platforms where your customers already are, show up consistently with genuinely useful content, and funnel that attention back to your site. The rest of this course is how to do that without burning out.
