Lesson 2 of 6

Choosing the right platforms

7 min read

Fit beats hustle

Each platform rewards a different format and audience:

  • TikTok / Reels / Shorts — short video; huge reach to non-followers; great for awareness.
  • YouTube — longer video that keeps earning views for years via search and suggestions.
  • LinkedIn — text and document posts; strong for B2B and expertise-led buying.
  • Instagram — visual brand-building; Reels for reach, profile for trust.
  • Pinterest — visual search engine; drives traffic for months (home, food, fashion, DIY).
  • X / Threads — fast conversation, replies, and timely takes.
  • Reddit / forums — high-trust communities; help first, never spam.

How to choose

Pick based on: where your customers already spend time, which format you can sustainably produce, and where your competitors are weak. Two platforms done consistently beat six done sporadically.

Commit and measure

Give a platform a real run (consistent posting for a couple of months) before judging it. GrowMyWebsite's per-platform playbooks give you the specific tactics for each.
